Biography
Suaka was born in the summer of 2001. With heavy metal as its main element since the early process, they have been infusing their music (and will continue to do so) with Indonesian traditional music through creative explorations of various Indonesian traditional instruments, rhythms, and melodies.
Suaka began their first audition in New York’s famous CBGB on february 2004 and have since performed in various venues in New York such as Knitting Factory and ACME Underground. They have also performed in various events such as: “Gebyar” - an Indonesian cultural event in 2004, Live performance for CUNY College TV Show at Brooklyn College, GIGI (a legendary Indonesian Band) Tsunami Relief Concert in April 2005, ISFEST in August 2005, and GIGI US East Coast Tour in September 2005. Since then, they have been playing a lot around New York CIty and other states, including headlining a music festival on October 2005.
Suaka has produced EP entitled “Indonesia” which consists of 6 songs in 2004, which is followed by another EP called Jangan Padamkan Apimu in 2005. Now the new album called EPISODE 1 is released in 2007 and produced by Cipta G. Moehammad at Stonedeaf Music.
